Our Parish council would like to thank you all for sharing your concerns and feedback regarding our brothers and sisters seeking a respite from the street and severe weather conditions. As we all know, they are facing stark challenges that we can barely comprehend, and caring for the poor and homeless is one of the tenets of our faith and the Franciscan order. The recent parishioner survey gives clear indication that the large majority of us feel that we are doing the right thing and would like to continue in this mission. Brother Tim has compiled the survey results and we’re making them available on a table in the rear of the church. The survey also shows that some of us find this to be out of our comfort zone, and some recent measures being led by Brother Tim have been taken to address those concerns. Given that the changes are recent and evolving, we ask that you leave past experiences in the past and we challenge you to start fresh with us as we commit ourselves to this choice, allowing the Holy Spirit to work through us and reach into the hearts and lives of our guests. We also encourage creative input as to how we can improve the measures we are taking, to make both our guests and parishioners feel more welcome and comfortable, and we welcome any volunteers willing to organize assistance or outreach activities targeted to go deeper into this mission.
